Position Summary

The Payroll Processor supports day-to-day payroll operations by assisting with payroll processing, data entry, and client support activities. This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, organized, and interested in learning payroll processes and compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily payroll department operations.

  • Support the payroll workflow to help ensure transactions are processed accurately and on time.

  • Review payroll data in process and assist with comparisons to prior payrolls before client submission.

  • Learn and apply basic payroll tax concepts, including pre-tax deductions.

  • Assist with processing manual checks when required.

  • Upload payroll import files received from clients, when applicable.

  • Learn and use payroll processing software.

  • Stay informed of basic changes related to payroll, such as minimum wage updates and deductions.

  • Respond to routine client and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues when needed.

  • Assist with time and labor issue tracking and resolution.

  • Support payroll backup processes.

  • Assist with electronic client audits.

  • Answer phone calls and direct inquiries as needed.

  • Assist with document scanning and record organization.

  • Ensure client and employee emails receive timely responses.

  • Support the team by completing additional administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in payroll processing or payroll administration is preferred but not required.

  • Entry-level administrative, accounting, or office experience is a plus.

  • English communication skills Proficient (written and verbal).

  • Comfortable working with numbers, data entry and basic reports.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Willingness to learn payroll systems and procedures.
